Is it Democrat leftist ideology that drives their incompetence, or is it something else? The cognitive dissonance many leftists display is off the charts when the policies and laws they implement come crashing down. Stalin and his ilk always blamed kulaks, saboteurs, anti-Bolshevik counterrevolutionaries, profiteers, Western infiltrators, gangsterism, etc., etc. whenever one of his endless five-year plans failed. Or else, it was merely “bad luck.”
It was never the impossibility of trying to change human nature that was to blame for failing to bring about a workers’ paradise on earth. It was always the wrong people who were in charge that prevented this mythical paradise from happening. After Stalin’s death, his successor Nikita Khrushchev actually had the stones to blame Stalin for his failure to realize Lenin’s dream of a thriving communist state, and not his blundering leadership in the early stages of Hitler’s 1941 invasion that led to the deaths of 20 million more Russians slaughtered in battle and during the bloody German occupation. Of course, he, Khrushchev, and his cohorts would be the ones to realize it! After banging his shoe on the podium of the U.N. General Assembly, he declared to America and the West, “We will bury you.” The irony here, of course, is that looking around America and what’s left of the West in 2024, Khrushchev was right, though perhaps not quite the way he had imagined considering the Soviet Union is no more, Vladimir Putin and the Russian government today notwithstanding. In any case, some people actually get it, while others for whatever reason simply refuse to believe their lying eyes despite everything they are seeing that flies directly in the face of their long-held beliefs, weltanschauung, or just plain old denial.
It’s probably why people like the highly esteemed attorney and legal scholar Jonathan Turley still believe we are living in a country where our legal system is the best and fairest the world has to offer despite seeing everything being done to Trump in a kangaroo court, the so-called J-6 “insurrectionists,” Peter Navarro, and even peaceful protesters at abortion clinics chucked into prison while rioters, domestic and illegal-alien murderers, and rapists are let off with a slap on the wrist.
The sad truth is, if this were still the case, this revolting, pornographic farce of banana-republicanism would never have happened in the first place. But still he seems to have faith that Judge Merchan, whose fangs dripping with nitric acid have been bared against Trump from the get-go, is going to throw this case out? Or that even one member of a New York City jury pool is going to vote to acquit, when there’s a real likelihood of being doxxed and then getting the Antifa/BLM treatment on him/her and/or their family?
I feel bad hammering away at a decent guy like Turley, who is probably realizing the profession and cause he devoted his entire life to is now a farce. In a mirror-universe way, it’s why Merchan and all the others are going all out to destroy Trump and by extension all of us. They are true believers in every sense of the word that what they are doing is absolutely justified to save “our precious democracy.”
For them to actually follow the very same law in the same way that Turley has tried to all his life would create an equal if not opposite crisis of conscience that Turley faces by letting the scales fall from his eyes. It’d be a fascinating Beale vs. Loki situation were it not for the fact that it has such dire and direct consequences on every one of us.
So, that’s two sides of the coin of ideologically driven incompetence and, in Turley’s case, blindness. But I’ve now noticed another phenomenon that I’ve defined as either clueless cruelty or cruelty of cluelessness. The first example comes from Zimbabwe on the Pacific, formerly known as California:
As Saigon was falling, Janet Nguyen’s uncle—an officer in the South Vietnamese Army—was taken before his village and executed. After the city fell on April 30, 1975, the communists put Nguyen’s father and mother in jail. Their “crime?” They got caught trying to escape the country.
After Saigon fell, Tri Ta’s father spent years in a re-education camp prison. His “crime?” He wrote books critical of communism.
Both Nguyen and Ta eventually made it to California with their families. She became a California state senator and he became a member of the Assembly. The Republicans represent Orange County districts home to the largest Vietnamese population outside of Vietnam.
Forty-nine years after the Fall of Saigon, April 30 remains a solemn day for Nguyen and Ta as it is for many of the 2.3 million Vietnamese-Americans in the U.S. They call it Black April.
“It’s a day that we mourn,” Nguyen said.
Which is why Ta and Nguyen were outraged when leaders of neighboring Los Angeles County declared April 30 “Jane Fonda Day” to honor the celebrity for her environmental activism. The lawmakers immediately began pressuring officials to rescind the recognition.
For those who are not of a certain age, like me, let me give you a bit of a refresher. Jane Fonda goes way beyond being certainly a liberal and even a leftist or hard leftist. She is in fact the dictionary definition of a traitor. In 1972, while America was at war with North Vietnam and their terrorist force the Vietcong, Fonda traveled to Hanoi to pose on an NVA antiaircraft cannon, shouting her opposition not necessarily to the war but to America’s involvement in it. To add insult to incredible injury, she was perhaps within spitting distance of the infamous Hỏa Lò Prison, dubbed “The Hanoi Hilton,” where captured American POWs were being tortured and brutalized for years.
I’m no legal eagle nor am I well-versed in the UCMJ, if that even was applicable at the time to a civilian during a time of war. But what she did should have earned her a date with the hangman. It almost did for Tokyo Rose after World War II, and the Brits hanged William “Lord Haw-Haw” Joyce for it.
Here’s what our law plainly states:
18 USC Ch. 115: TREASON, SEDITION, AND SUBVERSIVE ACTIVITIES
From Title 18—CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE – §2381. Treason
Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.
(June 25, 1948, ch. 645, 62 Stat. 807; Pub. L. 103–322, title XXXIII, §330016(2)(J), Sept. 13, 1994, 108 Stat. 2148.)
That Fonda was not thrown into Leavenworth was a huge mistake.
Whether or not the cultural rot and institutional corruption that we are experiencing today might have been prevented, or at least mitigated, we will never know.
And speaking of corruption, I give you another shining example of clueless cruelty. This one is a doozy:
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken performed Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World” on the electric guitar on Tuesday night in Kyiv, Ukraine, as part of a solidarity visit to boost morale in the embattled former Soviet republic.
Blinken played rhythm guitar with The 1999 band at the Barman Dictat, a nightspot in the Ukrainian capital.
“I know this is a really, really difficult time,” Blinken said. “You need to know the United States is with you.”…
The scene recalled a bizarre event in the aftermath of a radical Islamic terror attack on the Charlie Hebdo newspaper in Paris, France, in 2015, when then-Secretary of State John Kerry, having missed a local “unity rally,” sought to console Parisians with a serenade by James Taylor, who performed “You’ve Got a Friend.”
As the estimable Joel Pollak states, “Rockin’ in the Free World” was not a song in praise of the West. It was written by noted crackpot Canuck lefty crank Neil Young—who made millions of dollars writing tunes bashing America and the West—just before the Berlin Wall came crashing down and millions enslaved behind it actually tasted freedom for the first time in decades, thanks to the America he and his ilk, including Fonda, made their bones and fortunes from bashing.
But beyond that, the tastelessness of Blinken and his clueless cruelty lies in the fact that while he is desperate to help destroy the state of Israel by aiding and abetting the dark-age savages that perpetrated the greatest mass slaughter of Jews since World War II, he was performing (in every sense of that word) barely four miles down the road from a place called Babi Yar.
Over the course of two days, the 29th and 30th of September 1941, which coincided with the holiest day on the Jewish calendar, Yom Kippur, the Nazis and their Ukrainian collaborators shot 33,771 Jewish men, women, and children to death into a gigantic mass grave.
The disgusting and tragic irony of this—one of many—is that Blinken happens to be either the son or stepson of a Holocaust survivor. To not even take the time to travel, even unofficially without the media in tow, to say a prayer at the memorial site speaks volumes. Perhaps it might have bolstered the flagging support of American Jews for Biden, but then again it might enrage the Democrat base whose bloodthirsty anti-Jewish, anti-Israel, anti-American vitriol is barely distinguishable from that of Hamas and the rest of the commie heathen world itself.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken has sharpened his rhetoric towards Israel, telling the key U.S. ally to ‘get out of Gaza’ as the Israeli military tightens the noose around Hamas’ terrorist leadership in Rafah.
Blinken prophesied “enduring insurgency” in the long term if the Israeli military conducts a large-scale offensive in Rafah, Hamas’s last remaining stronghold, which has a terrorist fighting force with the strength of about four battalions.
“As we look at Rafah, they may go in and have some initial success, but potentially at an incredibly high cost to civilians,” the U.S. Secretary of State said in a TV interview on Sunday. “And they will be left holding the bag on an enduring insurgency because a lot of armed Hamas will be left, no matter what they do in Rafah, or if they leave and get out of Gaza, as we believe they need to do.”
Leave and get out of Gaza? High cost to “civilians”? What civilians? Unless you are an infant in diapers, anyone above the age of 5 is either an enemy combatant or directly helping the combatants. Meanwhile, just across the Mediterranean, this is happening:
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday that more than one thousand Hamas terrorists have received medical treatment in hospitals across Turkey. Erdogan refused to admit Hamas was a terrorist group, instead describing it as a “resistance movement.” This greatly dismayed Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who was meeting with Erdogan in Ankara to defuse tensions between Greece and Turkey. The two leaders were holding a joint press conference when Erdogan revealed Turkey had been treating Hamas fighters….
Erdogan loudly insisted that Hamas should not be treated as a “terrorist organization” even after it murdered, raped, burned, decapitated, and kidnapped more than 1,200 Israeli civilians on October 7….
Like other apologists for Hamas savagery, Erdogan said that Israel has no inherent right of self-defense that would justify its military response against the October 7 attack. The Turkish leader has since compared Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Adolf Hitler on several occasions, claiming Israel’s war in Gaza is an act of genocide like the Holocaust.
So, Turkey, a NATO member that is now actively harboring Hamas, a terrorist organization, has made itself—at least in a sane world—a legitimate target for Israel to attack in whatever way it chooses. I’d say that this is serious considering Turkey is a NATO member, but then again so is Germany, France, and England, which are well on the way to becoming Islamic states perhaps in as little as the next 10 years, if not sooner. Ditto a number of other NATO countries that have allowed unchecked immigration from the Islamic world to have all but subsumed their national identities.
And ditto the United States of America by virtue of the fact that it has admitted to withholding crucial intel on the whereabouts of Hamas’ leaders, as well as terror tunnels and other targets, allegedly in exchange for Israel agreeing to not wipe out the last redoubt of Hamas in Rafah. This alone would indicate Joey Sponge-Brain Sh*ts-Pants, Blinken, and the rest of the junta have known crucial intel for a considerable amount of time that could have stopped the bloodshed weeks ago, while giving Israel the means to take out their existential enemy. Or worse, Biden and Blinken were just bluffing?
Obviously, there is no way Israel would ever intentionally attack any U.S. or NATO assets. But rhetoric from Erdogan, Blinken, Biden, and the other NATO capitals that are essentially captives of the toxic brew of Islam and woke/anti-Americanism makes any situation potentially explosive.
Incompetence and cruelty, driven by ideology and cluelessness. Take any of those four words in any combination and it comes out just the same. Catastrophe.
