It’s like these assholes can’t help themselves. Their politics are so all-consuming that they drown everything else.

At the University of Tampa—I like to tell people that “Tampa” is actually Spanish for “Tampon,” and they always believe me—assistant sociology professor Kenneth Storey Tweeted that all these imaginary drowning rednecks deserved it:

I don’t believe in instant karma but this kinda feels like it for Texas. Hopefully this will help them realize the GOP doesn’t care about them.

(In case you’re unaware, “karma” is a word that cowards use when they’re too afraid to administer justice themselves.)

I didn’t see many cartoonists who dared to lampoon the looters in Houston—possibly because they were, how shall I say it, “demographically inconvenient”? Nor did I see many news stories about how some looters shot at rescue boats that came trying to help them. Nor did I see even one cartoon about the fact that many of the volunteer rescuers were those dreaded rednecks.

People are beasts, and times of crisis will often lead many of them to do all sorts of depraved things. Still, many others find a way to get over their differences and help each other, at least until their homes dry out and they’re free once more to ignore one another. But this latest natural disaster proves that if anything brings out the worst in people, it’s politics.
