Okay, sports fans, what was more shocking, the self-described “fat, Jewish, queer lesbian” portraying our Lord Jesus at the repulsive drag-act mockery of the Last Supper at the opening of the Olympics, or the fact that the Israelis have now surpassed the 40,000 dead in Gaza number—mostly women and children—and their leader, the murdering gangster called Netanyahu, is invited to address and given a nonstop standing ovations by the American Congress? It’s a horrible choice, I know, but anyone who has a heart has got to go with the latter. Forty thousand dead, and my favorite newspaper, the New York Post, has “Israel Under Attack” as its daily headline. I wonder what the caption would be if 40,000 Israelis had been killed after a Palestinian loss of 1,200? I used to be a columnist at the paper the great Alexander Hamilton founded around the same time the good old US of A became a nation, and I get it, New York has the largest Jewish population outside Israel. But come on, 40,000 versus 1,200 and only rubble where once stood a city?
Never mind. History will cast Netanyahu as a genocidal monster, not that it will help starving Palestinians grieving for their dead. He vowed vengeance after the October 7 massacre of innocent Israelis, and then delivered it beyond imagination. There’s been slaughter of trapped civilians, the horrid death of innocent children in the thousands, and the destruction of hospitals, schools, and the civilian infrastructure. And along with those horrors, there were fifty standing ovations by American politicians.
And it gets better. John “Three Pizzas” Podhoretz, a slob propagandist for total war by Uncle Sam in the Middle East, called Netanyahu “absolutely dazzling” for his shameless address to Congress. It was dazzling in the manner of some concentration camp commander bragging about his kill ratio. Podhoretz and his ghastly father were beating the war drums after 9/11 and managed to get the moron in the White House at the time to listen. Both speak as great war experts, but the closest they’ve been to any front was when ghastly father and ghastlier son went to see the black-and-white 1945 picture Burma starring Errol Flynn.
Gaza is a tragedy, but it is also America’s tragedy. The indispensable military and political cover Uncle Sam lavishes on Israel makes the good uncle responsible for a hell of a lot of innocents’ deaths. Israel is conducting a war of annihilation, with schools, hospitals, and tent encampments being bombed to smithereens. If Gaza is not a war crime, I’d like to know what is.
Netanyahu vowed vengeance after the October massacre of innocents and the taking of hostages by Hamas, but is killing women and children, turning cities into rubble, and starving to death men, women, and children because they are Gaza residents. Is it vengeance, or is it genocide? The U.S. government failed to get an adequate amount of food into Gaza, yet it had no trouble in sending vast amounts of ammunition and bombs to Israel so Gaza could be flattened.
Even now, with Ismail Haniyeh dead—his three sons and four grandchildren have already been killed by Israeli fire—Israel continues to bomb innocents. According to the U.N., 590 Palestinians have been killed by settlers in the West Bank since October, while twenty Palestinian prisoners have died in Israeli jails. What I don’t understand is how Jews, people who suffered so under the Nazis, can do almost similar horrors to other human beings. Israel was a wonderful and admirable country until hardcore bigots and gangsters like Begin and Shamir and Netanyahu came to power. Its legacy will be of mass killings of innocents, man-made famines against innocents, and the reason a nuclear war will one day take place with resulting untold horrors for humanity.
As of this writing, the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia has not responded to Haniyeh’s killing. A low-level conflict with both sides firing thousands of missiles across the Israeli-Lebanon border remains a sideshow. Hezbollah has said that it will stop firing rockets—rockets that Israel’s iron dome deflects easily—if Israel halts its war with Hamas. The Biden administration has sat on its hands and has washed them of the needlessly shed Palestinian blood. What I’d like to know is, why? Is the Israeli lobby that strong that 40,000 lives can be needlessly sacrificed while Washington fiddles? Neither side wants a bigger war because they understand the huge damage that it would cause their countries. And yet Netanyahu will risk it in order to stay in power—and perhaps out of jail—and to hell with the death and further destruction a bigger war will cost. Again, this is the man the United States Congress gave fifty standing ovations to. What I don’t understand is the stance of important Jewish people in America. Don’t these very intelligent and powerful people see what the overreaction to Gaza and the thousands of deaths of innocents have done for the Jewish image? Don’t these influential men and women fear the backlash when it emerges how the governing coalition of Israel have voiced and refused humanitarian aid to Gaza? What will these people think when one day the Palestinian version of Schindler’s List comes out?
With 2 million, yes, 2 million refugees living in rubble, the damage has been done. But there’s always time to right a terrible wrong, even though the West is doing nothing about it. Instead, we are enjoying the Olympics and some of us are loudly protesting the opening-parade farce by French freaks eager to show their contempt for our values. What are these values, I’d like to know. Allowing a gangster to kill 40,000 innocents and create 2 million refugees? Compared with that, the opening-day Paris freak show was a pinprick.
