The letter in which HM King Juan Carlos I announced his decision to leave Spain for a while has plunged the Iberian bull ring into a sea of doubt, gossip, and dismay. For a few days there is no talk of the criminal mismanagement of the Spanish government in the face of the viral pandemic, of the delirious pacts of the president, the worst-dressed and most deceitful in our democratic history, Pedro Sánchez, who with communists, separatists, and (ex-?)terrorists stays in power, nor of the brutal economic crisis or the tourist debacle of this summer, nor is there even talk of football.

Everyone has an opinion on the subject, and some of them are really infamous. At the moment, hardly anyone understands the real meaning of the letter, which is addressed to his son King Felipe VI.

Don Juan Carlos has not fled Spain, as Pablo Iglesias, the communist vice president of the Spanish government, has said; he has not gone into exile in Estoril, as the sentimental columnists of the historical-hysterical circle write with saudade; nor has he gone on holiday like a golden pensioner, as so many corrupt politicians believe.

But what need was there to write such a letter? In the face of Cainite attacks that do not take into account the presumption of innocence, the disloyal pressures of the socialist-communist government itself, and the tremendous media hunt that the Spanish monarchy is suffering for Don Juan Carlos (some journalists would be the delight of the Bolsheviks), the King has decided to make public his decision to travel outside of Spain for a while.

It is clearly a new service to Spain, and the Crown, from a master of the beau geste who has much more experience than any politician. The letter is a firewall. It eases the pressure on his son, HM the King Felipe VI. The grotesque humiliation, as demanded by some fanatics of the Spanish government itself, that Don Juan Carlos would have to be expelled from the Zarzuela Palace is no longer being considered.

Why so much restlessness and ungratefulness toward someone who has dedicated his whole life to Spain with talent, grace, and success? Apparently it all comes from some accounts in Switzerland that were not declared in Spain. They are being investigated and Don Juan Carlos, who is not charged, has put himself at the disposal of justice.

The reality is that the whole of Spain is at stake in a laundering of values with perverse objectives. It smells of treachery.

Don Juan Carlos has been one of the best kings in the history of Spain. His personal work (when he had all the power) was fundamental in bringing democracy and the current constitution peacefully to Spain—a transition admired all over the world. He has been the best ambassador of Spain, achieving openness of relations, prestige, and harmony.

The parliamentary monarchy has demonstrated that it has a real purpose and symbolizes the union of all the peoples of Spain. It has a superior aesthetic and is cheaper than any republic. It creates temporal ties that go beyond the shortsighted vision of the mini-statist who only thinks in terms of four years.

I believe that the people are much closer to their human kings than to the political martians. The balance of Don Juan Carlos’ reign is overwhelmingly positive for Spain’s history. He silenced the verbal diarrhea of a Venezuelan tyrant and now, with this letter, he seems to be saying that it is time to be patient and shuffle the deck. Always in support of Spain, where he will soon return.

He is still King.

La Carta del Rey

La carta en que SM el Rey Juan Carlos I anuncia su decisión de dejar España por una temporada ha sumido al ruedo ibérico en un mar de dudas, chismes y consternación. Por unos días no se habla de la criminal gestión del gobierno español ante la pandemia vírica, de los delirantes pactos del presidente –el peor vestido y más mentiroso de nuestra historia democrática— Pedro Sánchez con comunistas, separatistas y ¿ex?-terroristas para mantenerse en el poder, tampoco de la brutal crisis económica o la debacle turística de este verano, ni siquiera se habla de futbol.

Todo el mundo tiene una opinión que dar al respecto y algunas son realmente infames. De momento, casi nadie comprende el sentido real de la carta, que está dirigida a su hijo el Rey Felipe VI.

Don Juan Carlos no ha huido de España, tal y como ha ladrado Pablo Iglesias, vicepresidente comunista del gobierno español; no ha marchado al exilio de Estoril, tal y como escriben con saudade los sentimentales columnistas del círculo histórico-histérico; tampoco se ha largado de vacaciones cual jubilado dorado, tal y como opina tanto político corrupto.

Pero ¿qué necesidad había de escribir tal carta? Ante los ataques cainitas que no tienen en cuenta la presunción de inocencia, las presiones desleales del propio gobierno socialista-comunista, y la tremenda cacería mediática que está sufriendo la Monarquía española en la persona de Don Juan Carlos (algunos periodistas harían las delicias de los bolcheviques), el Rey ha decidido hacer pública su decisión de viajar fuera de España una temporada.

Es claramente un nuevo servicio a España y a la Corona de un maestro del beau geste que tiene mucha más experiencia que cualquier político. La carta es un cortafuegos. Así afloja la presión sobre su hijo, SM el Rey Felipe VI. Ya no se baraja en determinados círculos la grotesca humillación, tal y como exigían algunos fanáticos del propio gobierno de España, que se expulse a Don Juan Carlos del palacio de la Zarzuela.

¿Por qué tanta inquina y desagradecimiento con alguien que ha dedicado toda su vida a España con talento, gracia y éxito? Aparentemente todo viene por unas cuentas en Suiza que no fueron declaradas en España. Están siendo investigadas y Don Juan Carlos, que no está imputado, se muestra a disposición de la justicia.

La realidad es que toda España está en juego en un lavado de valores con objetivos perversos. El aire huele a traición.

Don Juan Carlos ha sido uno de los mejores reyes de la historia de España. Su labor personal (cuando tenía todo el poder) fue fundamental para traer la democracia y actual Constitución de forma pacífica; una Transición admirada en todo el mundo. Ha sido el mejor embajador de España, logrando apertura de relaciones, prestigio y concordia.

La Monarquía parlamentaria ha demostrado que tiene una utilidad real y simboliza la unión de todos los pueblos de España. Tiene una estética superior y es más barata que cualquier república. Crea lazos temporales que van más allá de la visión cortoplacista de mini-estadista que solo piensa a cuatro años.

Creo que el pueblo está mucho más cerca de sus humanos Reyes que de los marcianos políticos. El balance del reinado de Don Juan Carlos abrumadoramente positivo para la historia de España. Mandó callar la diarrea verbal de un tirano venezolano y ahora, con esta carta, parece decir que toca paciencia y barajar las posibilidades. Siempre por España, donde regresará pronto.

Y sigue siendo el Rey.
