Dear Delphi,

I am a 68-year-old man and I want to use Viagra. My concern is that it is not healthy. I am worried about kidney failure, a heart attack, a paralyzing stroke, permanent brain damage, or other problems I can”€™t even imagine. Do you think it is worth it? I don”€™t have a wife or a girlfriend right now.

Dear Down in Denver,

Is Viagra risky? The person you need to talk to is your doctor, not me. That being said, you are no spring chicken and if you want to exit this world strutting like a rooster, why not? Why forgo today’s pleasures in order to tack another, say, seven years maximum onto your life? Obviously if you have dependents who need you to work to support them, you must sacrifice any joy rides in the name of responsibility. If not, you can either go out with a smile on your face and try to get as much out of the last tenth of your life, or you can live without taking any risks and live a slightly longer but far less satisfactory existence. Even without the Viagra you could always get hit by a bus as you cross the street tomorrow.

Dear Delphi,

My son, a high-school senior, got caught drinking at boarding school and was kicked out. As a result, he had his early acceptance to college withdrawn. I am so mad, I am seeing red. I don”€™t know what to do or how to deal with his mess! Do you have any suggestions about how I can discipline him without ruining his life more than he already has? I feel like sending him to military school!
