OK, trying out my new theory of “Gestalt Conservatism,” let me see if I can extract a coherent idea from an apparently meaningless pattern:

• A. The latest Girl Scout curriculum celebrates “heroic” women—Marxists, lesbians, lesbian Marxists, etc. So if your daughter returns from the annual camporee spouting radical feminist rhetoric . . .
• B. This is the same kind of incongruity as Notre Dame honoring a non-Catholic pro-abortion politician in the name of “open discussion” and . . .
• C. Perhaps you perceive the relevance of the fact that no out-and-out conservative will ever be published by The New York Times and thereby become one of The Republicans Who Really Matter.

Well, I see the pattern, if no one else does. But perhaps this is merely an after-effect of my unfortunate experience with psilocybin mushrooms 30 years ago.
